introduction

Kosha Shah's practice is rooted in material exploration and hand-led making. Working primarily with recycled newspaper, she engages with paper mâché as both medium and method, allowing its inherent softness and structural strength to guide form and surface. Textures and sculptural details are shaped entirely by hand, without fixed molds or mechanical tools, making each piece inherently individual.

Her design language draws from Indian culture, architecture, textiles, and terrain, translated through tone-on-tone palettes and tactile finishes. Sustainability is embedded in the process itself, with reuse not as an afterthought but as the foundation of her material choices.

reflection

Sonder is the awareness that every person carries a life as complex and vivid as our own. In my work, this idea translates through an engagement with Indian craft, material, and landscape. Rooted in cultural memory, the forms draw from objects that feel familiar yet deeply personal-echoes of childhood homes, travel, rituals, or heirlooms passed down through generations. Each piece holds a shared visual language, while allowing space for individual interpretation, mirroring how common experiences carry distinct emotional meanings for each person.
