This low seat features exaggerated drum-inspired legs, echoing the woven character of the traditional dol. The bold stance gives it a sense of pride, while its form keeps the body close to the ground.
For us, sonder is the quiet recognition that every person carries a world within them shaped by their hands that guide their daily life. As designers working closely with craft communities, this idea is at the heart of our practice. Each technique we learn, each fibre we touch, and each form we build is connected to someone’s experience an artisan’s thought, a community’s way of adapting to change, a story passed down through time.
Our work is a way of honouring these traditional materials and techniques, where we try to bring those stories into a new space without losing their essence. The object we create are small translations of such moments we have encountered.
